Big Air Milan ready for the grande finale: it’s Freeski time

The riders have started practicing from the ramp of the EXPerience Park in view of Saturday 18th’s World Cup: qualifications from 9 am to 3 pm, finals from 7 pm to 9 pm

The riders are back in town to perform their breathtaking stunts. After two exciting days dedicated to Snowboard – on Friday 10th and Saturday 11th November –, Big Air and the City lit up again the EXPerience Park in the outskirts of Milan. Today, Friday November 17th, the biggest snowy ramp ever built in Italy has been the playing field for the top freeskiers, which had the opportunity to “taste” the Valmalenco’s snow – masterfully prepared once again on the 40-meter high and 130-meter long ramp – during three training heats, from 12 am to 7 pm, in view of Saturday18th's qualifications and finals.

It was a dress rehearsal for the 52 freeskiers (40 men and 12 women) in the run, who have already started to display their best and more difficult tricks: just a hint of tomorrow’s spectacle. Bad day only for Italian Igor Lastei, who got injured while landing after a difficult jump: nothing serious, but his seasonal debut in the Big Air specialty could be on the mend. After a night with the entertainment of Radio Number One – media partner of the event – , tomorrow will be the great day of the World Cup opening for the Freeski specialty.

The very intense programme will start at 9 am with the trainings, followed by the qualification round, from 10 am to 3 pm: two runs available for each rider to mark the best score and advance to the final. The top 10 men and the top 6 women will compete in the night for the final victory, from 7 pm to 9 pm. Right after the flower ceremonies, Italian artist Baby K will take the centre stage with her popular hits.

Alongside the competitions, there will be plenty of activities during the whole day. From 9 am to 11 pm, the EXPerience Park will turn into an Alpine Village with a food area, an expo area, a neveplast ski slope, a tubby track and a Riglet for the youngtsers. Starting from 3.30 pm, at the foot of the Tree of Life, visitors can take part in the Rossignol X Color, a non-competitive fun-race open to everyone, with gadgets and free gifts.

In addition, at 4.30 pm, at the Lake Arena around the iconic Tree of Life, it will be possible to enjoy the premiere of “2 Cuori in Pista” by Valmalenco Ski Resort. “2 Cuori in Pista” is the first suite ever built on a snowcat – with double bed, bathtub and a panoramic window – to enjoy an exclusive and romantic experience at high altitude.

Meantime, Big Air and the City is looking forward to another unique night. And a whole day full of fun and emotions.
