Milan jumps into emotion: it’s Big Air time!
The snowboard riders excited after the first training day of Big Air and the City, in the setup for Saturday’s finals under the Tree of Life. Moresi: “The snow is very fast, we are up for a great show”
The heart of the EXPerience Park is pulsing, just like the lights of the Tree of Life: after the long preparation, the ramp’s construction in record time and the snow making works, today it was finally the day of the first jumps. Big Air Milan has opened its programme on Friday November 10th, with the training sessions of all the snowboard national teams, who took first touch with the 40-meter high, 130-meter long ramp in Milan.
From the morning, the snowboard top riders’ enthusiasm could be perceived under the Tree of Life, as tomorrow will also mark the first World Cup round of the year for the specialty: the first race always feels special, even for stars very much used to the racing pressure.
The first Big Air of the season has a very fast ramp in store for the riders, as stated by FIS Contest Director Roberto Moresi: “Also this year, we have found in Milan a top-level location and overall setup. I have talked with the athletes, and they were surprised to find such a fast snow. Today was very important for them to get used to the ramp, but now they know what to expect, and they are ready to rock. Everybody is willing to start in swing”.
The expectation is high, and not only for the riders: “In these days we have recorded huge traffic numbers on our social media channels, with over 400.000 contacts in a few days: that shows that Milan is already in the heart of those loving our sport, and tomorrow we are looking forward to a great show of public”, told Moresi.
Tomorrow, Saturday, the day will be opened by the qualification rounds for men and women, from 9.00 to 15.00, before the decisive final heats from 18.00. A truly unique show, to live at the foot of the ramp or on TV: Big Air Milan will be broadcast live all over the World. In addition, from 9.00 to 23.00, the EXPerience Park will be open with all the Snow Days activities, to spend a whole day in the name of sports, snow and fun.
After the show of Marvin&Prezioso and Shade, who took the Big Air’s stage on Friday night, tomorrow it will be the board’s phenoms time to come to the fore: the strongest riders are in Milan, starting with World’s #1, Belgian Seppe Smits and Austrian Anna Gasser.
The wait is over: Big Air and The City is ready to jump.
